About the Practitioner

 Who I am......

As a 2012 Graduate from the Healing Arts Institute, Perrysburg, Ohio, I am licensed by the State of Ohio Medical Board and nationally certified by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. I've been trained in various therapeutic techniques, Reiki, Swedish massage, LaStone, CoreStone, headache & sinus relief, treatment for sciatic nerve issues, and tennis elbow as well as general release of muscular aches and pains.

Additionally, I am a certified aromatherapist via Natural Options Aromatherapy. Through aromatherapy I can help you with many day to day issues such as headaches, sinus congestion, muscle spasms, sleep issues and relaxation. Roll-on oils, cremes, lotions and aromatherapy bath salts are all available for treatment purposes.

It is my belief that massage is beneficial not only for your body, but your mind and soul. When you have good muscle position, proper muscle tonicity, extensibility and flexibility you have a better all over feeling. When you are pain free, experiencing minimal stressors, and able to relax you are able to focus on other aspects of your being to help achieve overall optimal health. As human beings, none of our parts or systems can survive independently. The more we are able to keep our body functioning properly we are in turn able to keep our mind, body and soul working in a harmonious manner. It is my plan to continue to educate myself in various modalities so as to improve my client offerings as well as to improve personally.

What brought me here.....

I have wanted to become a massage therapist since the late 1980's. At that time my husband and I had three young daughters and it was just not a feasible thing for me to pursue. As time went on my desire to never waned. I "massaged" family and friends whenever possible and often heard "Why don't you go to school and get your license? You could be working on building a successful practice."

As fate would have it I developed an issue that required occupational & massage therapy as treatment. I had wonderfully successful results with my therapies and a few years later decided to resume seeing the massage therapist on my own for various issues. Through the years my belief in and understanding of massage therapy and it's potential grew immensely. I came to realize the importance of a monthly maintenance massage, not only for it's physical benefits, but also for it's mental benefits.

Finally, my life path brought me to a place where my dream of going to school to become a licensed massage therapist was possible. In early 2011, I made the decision to "just do it". I contacted The Healing Arts Institute in Perrysburg, Ohio, found out what I needed to do and in a few short weeks was knee deep in anatomy and massage classes. After having been out of the habit of any type of studying it was quite a challenge in the beginning. But after a few weeks things began to fall into place and a year later I found myself graduating and preparing for my state board testing.

On a personal note.....

When I'm not demonstrating the benefits of massage on others I love to travel. One of my favorite modes of transportion is my motorcycle. When I'm not out riding you can find me curled up with a good book, at the campground floating on the water or enjoying the company of friends. Visits to see our daughters and their families are also very high on my list of favorite things - we have 9 wonderful grandchildren. :-)  With them living in South Dakota, Texas and Ohio it's a good thing I love to travel.

Now it's time for me to share what I have experienced and learned about massage therapy with others. It is my hope that you will make the choice to schedule an appointment with me and experience the wonders of massage for yourself.

Life....a work in progress.
